Holle’s Goat Milk Formula
You’ve probably heard about goat milk’s benefits in baby formula. Well, it’s all true! If your infant is not comfortable with drinking cow milk formula, then goat milk will soothe their tummy. In fact, most babies digest goat milk almost twice as fast as cow milk, letting them eliminate unpleasant digestion.
In addition to that, the formula is palm oil-free and contains different milk proteins. Thanks to that, the curds created by goat milk during digestion are smaller, and easier to process by the infant’s tummy.
Just like cow milk-based formula, goat milk has different stages for your baby’s comfort, starting with Holle Goat Milk Formula PRE and finishing with Holle Goat Milk Formula Stage 4.
Holle Cow’s Milk Formula
For the formulas, Holle uses skimmed cow milk. Overall, there are two baby formula ranges made from cow milk: a standard organic line and an A2 line. But what is A2 milk?
Before cow milk lost most A2 and A1 proteins, cows used to only produce A2 milk. After that, the gene mutation caused cows to produce A1 milk. Unfortunately, it’s not always suitable for the human body. Since the digestion of A1 milk causes the BCM-7 release and following negative effects, A2 milk is a preferred choice by some parents.
Holle’s A2 milk line is the closest to human breast milk. It’s produced by hand-picked cows and doesn’t contain any A1 proteins. It doesn’t release any BCM-7 and can be a lot more gentle with your little one’s tummy.
Understanding Holle Formula Stages
Given you’ve never worked with the European baby formula range before, you might be confused about what exactly your infant needs. There are so many stages in every formula range!
We get it, the process can be overwhelming. And you wouldn’t want to give your infant the follow-on formula used for babies over 6 months. There are five stages in total:
- Holle Stage PRE is a strictly infant formula and can be fed to babies from birth up to 6 months. It contains organic lactose, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B6, vitamin K, and vitamin D.
- Holle Stage 1 has the same age range and is very similar to Stage PRE. It’s recommended that you move onto Stage 1 when your infant turns 3 months, as it contains more nutrients for rapid growth.
- Holle Stage 2 is already called a “follow-on” formula. In case your baby is 6 months or older and started eating solid foods, this formula can support the transition. On the other hand, it might contain organic starch or maltodextrin which is not suitable for newborns. It also has a higher level of vitamins and nutrients.
- Holle Stage 3 should be introduced to your baby’s diet when they turn 10 months old. Similarly to Stage 2, it’s a follow-on formula full of vitamins, nutrients, and carbohydrates.
- Holle Stage 4 is no longer an infant formula. It’s created for toddlers specifically 12 months and up, and not necessary for your baby.
