The House of the Dragon Season 2 finale is the show’s longest episode ever

The House of the Dragon Season 2 Finale Will Break the Series Record for the Longest Runtime of the Show.

Season 2 of House of the Dragon is coming to an end, and the Targaryen Civil War is set to feature one of the bloodiest battles of all time.

While most viewers are eager to see how Rhaenyra, Aemond, and Alicent handle their ongoing conflict, some are worried that Episode 8 won’t be able to cover every plot point.

Fortunately, any concerns may be put to rest as it’s been confirmed that the Season 2 finale will break the show’s record for the longest runtime of any episode.

Episode 8 of Season 2 is 1 hour and 13 minutes long, or 73 minutes. It beats the previous record holder—Episode 2: ‘Rhaenyra the Cruel’—by a minute.

Overall, Season 2 has had a lot of long episodes, from Episode 3 at 1 hour and 10 minutes (70 minutes) to Episode 1 at 1 hour and 4 minutes (64 minutes).

The episodes in House of the Dragon Season 1 were also quite long, with the longest episode—Episode 6: ‘The Princess and the Queen’—running around 1 hour and eight minutes (68 minutes).

Season 2 of House of the Dragon will likely tend to produce longer episodes to make up for the fact that it doesn’t have as many episodes as the previous season.

Season 2 may be two episodes shorter, but each episode cleverly and creatively uses the conflict between the Black and Blue factions to advance.

Hopefully the long length of the Season 2 finale will leave fans feeling satisfied with the story’s conclusion before the credits roll.
