Zoom has announced a bunch of new features for its web conferencing platform, including one that means missing meetings could become a bit more complicated in the future.
The updates are designed to give users more control, such as allowing multiple users to move slides within a presentation and new tools for creating polls.
With telework and web conferencing showing no signs of fading, Launch seems to be focused on enhancing the user experience with these quality of life updates.
Updates for Zoom Meetings
Updates to Zoom, notified via The company’s official blog , which includes a clearer way for meeting organizers to see who’s actually participating in the meeting. Thanks to Google calendar and Outlook integration, hosts will be able to see who accepted or declined a meeting and whether they’ve joined, which means a little less waiting (and potentially less time). maybe the odd, awkward email then to those people who didn’t attend…).
Polls have been a feature of Zoom for a while now, but with the latest update, new tools have been added, including the ability to generate rated replies, short answers, and length, as well as matching and filling in the blanks. They can be used in a variety of ways, from generating feedback during meetings, to more fun activities like quizzes.
If you’ve co-hosted a meeting before, this next meeting could be an important one for you – advanced slide controls. More than one person can now control the slides on the screen, which means no more waiting for someone else to press a button before you can continue with your presentation.
Finally, and perhaps the smallest update of the bunch, you’ll be able to adjust the watermark on your Zoom calls, changing the size and position.
Update for Zoom phones
Zoom Phone has also received a host of features worth mentioning. Zoom Phone currently supports Nomadic 911 services natively, in compliance with Kari’s law and Ray Baum’s statute, and supports location detection for emergency services.
Zoom has also added improvements to its queue analytics, with the Zoom Power Pack, which makes it easier to track call queue KPIs, including missed calls, service levels, and wait times. Managers can now choose to receive these updates via Zoom Chat, as well as email notifications. Call queue wall panels can now also be customized and displayed on digital signage.
New verified callers feature means that calls from authorized carrier numbers will show a ‘verified caller’ icon, which can help reduce spam or unwanted calls would like.
Zoom Phone also adds some new integrations with the latest update. SMS for Google Workspace, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Dynamics means you can now send text messages to your external contacts via Zoom Phone to these services. Zoom Phone also now integrates with ServiceNow, allowing direct access to Zoom Phone and click-and-call functionality from a ServiceNow workflow.
Should my company zoom?
Zoom has blossomed over the past few years, no doubt. Once stuck with web conferencing, it’s now synonymous with them, even dictionary definition.
However, it was not the smoothest journey. Its meteoric rise has drawn some criticism, as the company seems to have been lured by overnight fame, lack of security features that’s the norm for older services. However, those days are over and Zoom’s service is now as powerful as ever Microsoft Team and Google Meet, in some cases even surpassing them. In fact, we happily recommend Zoom as a great web conferencing service for businesses.
