Zoe Saldana is backing out after feeling “stuck” on producing movie franchises

Zoe Saldaña has broken the record for her comments about feeling “stuck” on movie franchises over the past decade.

The actor has starred in Star Trek, Avatar, and Marvel Movies, but said in an interview last month that she doesn’t feel able to “expand or grow” while appearing in franchises.

However appear at the premiere of Avatar: The Way of Water On Monday evening (December 12), Saldana downplayed her original remarks.

“[Those films] has resonated so much with people that we have the opportunity to come back and come back another time,” she said meeting.

“If anything, I’ve taken full advantage of it, I’ve made friends. I feel like the luckiest girl in this town. I still have mentors that I call and lean on.”

In the original interview, Saldaña admitted that she now felt less able to play different characters because she was “stuck with these franchises.”

“I feel like I’ve just got stuck for the last 10 years of my life,” she said. “I am very grateful for the opportunities they have given me, from working with great directors and meeting cast members who I consider friends, and being able to play a role that fans, especially children, love.

“But it also meant that I felt artistically stuck in my craft because I couldn’t expand, grow, or challenge myself by playing different types of genres and different roles.”

It comes after Saldaña recently said she “wouldn’t be upset” if she didn’t appear in another Guardians of the Galaxy Movie.

“I miss Gamora, but I don’t miss 3:30 calls and five-hour makeup sessions and trips to the dermatologist afterwards,” she said.

She also explained that it was the fans that made her “not to be cynical about Marvel.”

“They have feelings too, and if something affects them just because we think it’s stupid or immature or naughty, it doesn’t mean it’s not special.”

Saldaña has starred in three of the five highest-grossing films of all time, an impressive feat unmatched by any other actor.

Avatar: The Way of Water hits theaters on Friday December 16th.
