Ys X: Nordics Revealed, Launching 2023 For PS4, P55, Switch

Ys X: Scandinavia was just announced by Nihon Falcom for PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. Celebrating its 35th anniversary, this latest entry in the long-running action JRPG series follows Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, a 2019 critically acclaimed title by gamers in Japan and around the world. This 10th mainline title introduces new combat mechanics, huge ocean crossings with even some Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag ship combat, a first for the series.
Ys X: release date for Scandinavia
Ys X is set to debut in Japan in 2023, with no confirmation yet on when it will come to the West. It could be speculated that given the release of the previous title in Japan in September 2019 and its sequel in the west in February 2021, western players who need the translation could wait quite a long time.
Ys X: Nordic’s story and gameplay details
So far, there are not many details about the story. Set in Obelia Bay in the North Sea, this latest title sees red-haired protagonist Adol Cristin take the helm once again – literally, given these latest screenshots from Falcom. Traversing and fighting on the high seas seems like a welcome addition, along with completely revamped combat with the new “Cross Action” system allowing players to fluidly combine their attacks with their partner character.
