YouTubers and voice actors are facing the most surprising problems this year

Nicolas Cantu is a voice actor turned edgy meme poster who is currently the talk of the town thanks to his public spat with Minecraft YouTuber Dream.

Who is Nicolas Cantu, the star of the voice actors?

Although you may have never heard of Nicolas Cantu before this week, there’s a good chance you’ve heard his voice.

At just 20 years old, the young actor has already built up an impressive filmography. The story goes back to a voice appearance in a spin-off of “Dora the Explorer” in 2016 and then to an acting role in “The Fablemans” directed by Steven Spielberg in 2022.

Cantu is apparently best seen online as Gumball Watterson in The Amazing World of Gumball, in which he appeared in 71 episodes between 2017 and 2019.

You may also have seen a young Cantu in The Walking Dead: World Beyond, where he played Elton Ortiz.

Cantu’s YouTube rise (and fall)

Aside from his impressive acting resume, Cantu spent his teenage years developing his profile on YouTube under the pseudonym “Junky Janker.”

Between 2016 and 2020, Cantu gained over 400,000 subscribers through an inconsistent schedule of sporadic uploads, with content ranging from parodies to vlogs to Minecraft videos.

In September 2023, Cantu returned to the Junku Janker channel after three years of silence and announced that he would be moving to a new channel titled nicolasCAN2.

Cantu’s new channel has attracted almost 9,000 subscribers in the first two months of its existence – its content seems to be a bit more abstract and edgy than Junky Janker’s.

This change in direction fits with Cantu’s Twitter account, where his quarter of a million followers regularly see memes that are a little on the bone and probably wouldn’t be suitable for the Cartoon Network that Cantu made his name on.

Inside the beef with Dream

Which brings us to today, where Cantu is currently in a very public spat with Minecraft enthusiast Dream.

The pair first started trading blows when Cantu insulted a Dream parody account, prompting the now-maskless gamer to post a series of claims about an alleged incident between the two.

It was alleged that Cantu physically assaulted Dream at an event before verbally attacking an Uber driver – both of which Cantu immediately admitted.

The beef didn’t stop there, however. After Dream uploaded footage of the Uber ride in question, Cantu attacked Dream’s character and later assured his followers that he had “won the debate.”

While the internet analyzes everything both parties have said, the dispute appears to be dormant for now as neither star has tweeted in recent days, although one suspects we haven’t heard the end of it yet.
