You’re using the wrong ceiling fan — the right way will help keep your room warm in the winter

Even sitting in the comfort of our own homes, it’s nearly impossible to escape the January cold.

Also follow Farmer’s Almanac, there are some little-known tricks that can help us stay cozy for the next few months.

The first tip concerns your ceiling fan. What is supposed to cool you down can also be surprisingly helpful in keeping you warm.

You just flip the switch to get the fan to spin in the opposite direction, then set it to the lowest speed.

This will blow warm air from the ceiling down to your body.

Another piece of advice they have: use energy from the sun. Opening the curtains to let the sunlight in can act as a natural heater for your home.

However, remember to close them at night to keep the heat inside.

Farmer’s Almanac also offers helpful tips for keeping your car in top condition during the winter.

The tour guide claims the night before the temperature freezes, you should rub half a potato on the windshield of your car.

“The sugar from the potatoes creates a barrier through the windows and prevents ice from forming, so you’ll be out in the morning and won’t have to shave!”

Before you hit the road, you’ll need to wash and clean your windshield with your car’s windshield wipers.

As for the rearview mirror of the car, to keep them from frosting, you should put a plastic bag on them at night.

And finally, for those of you with manual car keys — you know those keyholes are often frozen. To thaw, simply spray some hand sanitizer on top.
