BODY sugaring is the latest trend when it comes to body hair removal.
It is said to be completely natural and very hygienic, which is why estheticians warn people to stop using traditional waxes immediately.
“Here’s why you should switch to your body’s sugar regime from waxing today,” says esthetician Sara Sugar Queen, esthetician Sara Sugar Queen says in videotapes posted online.
“It’s all organic, all natural,” she notes.
“It’s really just sugar, lemonade and water.”
She continued: “There’s never been any hair broken and I’m tearing the hair from its roots, so when it grows out that way, it can grow thinner and finer.”
Sarah also says that because the hair is completely removed, the pores are “cleaned” and the hair is “trained” to never return.
She also says that unlike waxing, she doesn’t dip twice in the basin, making the line much more hygienic.
According to Face Forward Beauty & Skin Boutique, double dipping is a serious sign and can lead to “serious skin infections”.
Its website explains: “Bacteria get introduced into the wax and hide in the wax only to be returned to your skin.
“Most waxes are antibacterial, which means the wax will not produce bacteria on its own, but will not kill bacteria that come from an outside source.”
It added: “It’s sad to say, but most salons do NOT practice this method.”
On the other hand, Sarah says that once she’s done with the sugar ball, she just throws it away.
“It never stops being hot and you usually see about 50 percent hair loss after the first time,” she concludes.
While her advice seemed authentic, many of Sarah’s viewers were unsatisfied with her video and went unsold when turning to wax.
“Did you know that’s exactly how hair removal works?” one person commented sarcastically.
“Waxing is literally the same if not better,” a second person wrote.
“Just because it’s organic doesn’t mean it’s better.
“As one Master Esthetician compares this to waxing is purely asinine.”
However, several other viewers applauded Sarah’s video and shared their own resounding success stories.
In response to the protesters, she said in the comments that they were misinformed about waxing and sugar.
While people debated whether or not they wanted to take Sarah’s advice, one beautician revealed some of the horrors of waxing she’s encountered before with clients.
