One of the specials that comes to mind is the movie The Holiday, starring Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet.

There, they met and fell in love with Jude Law and Jack Black respectively, making for a very successful Christmas for both women.

There are two types of swaps: Classic Free Swap or Point Swap.

Classic free swaps are exactly like Holidays – you go where they are, they come to you.

Meanwhile, Point Swap allows you to stay at someone’s house without having to match your plans – if you like their house, but they don’t like yours, for example.

So they’ll be able to organize you points instead, which they can then use to book another trip. Be warned, however, this type of swap comes with transaction fees starting at £49, which are calculated based on the number of nights you plan to stay.

Just like Airbnb, all you have to do is clear some space in the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom.

The site recommends storing your clothes and items in a bag or suitcase, locking all your valuables, and getting rid of anything in particular that you don’t want to take out.

You can exchange keys by leaving them with a neighbor, depositing a spare set of keys up front in the post office, or using a lockbox that your guests can access. You should also agree on expectations in advance, making sure what you want them to do with the sheets, towels, and dishes before they leave.

As long as you follow these guidelines, house swapping can be a wonderful experience – and who knows, maybe you’ll meet the love of your life there too.
