CHRISTMAS is said to be a bad and colorful affair after Covid introduced a cooling product to the festivals last year.
So, today I look at some of the top festive decorating trends and how to follow them while keeping costs down.
COUNTRY LIFE: A big homeware fashion trend this year is “cottagecore,” which means imagining you’re in a cozy cottage. Tesco mini sleigh hanging and hanging ornaments, £2.75 and £1.75, work well with this theme. But take some decs from the outdoors too. Pine cones, holly branches, and ivy all look great and are, most of all, free.
TRAD FAB: Traditional carnival colors create great atmosphere. Grab 24 packs of Tesco forest green jewelry for just £5, working out around 21p each. Red and green Christmas tablecloths are £1 at The Range and Asda red and gold tinsel is £1 for three metres.
GO FOR GLAM: The decorations are expected to be extremely extravagant this year to make up for last year. Welcome your guests with Robert Dyas LED candies to light up aisles, £19.99 off £29.99 and wall-mounted floodlights for indoor use, £21 .99. I also love Homebase’s sleigh projector, down to £15 from £20.
FIRE: Mantelscaping is a new trend in regards to packing your fireplace – and what better time than Christmas? You can do it cheaply with ManoMano’s 33ft garland for £11.10, down from £17, and four Ikea Christmas candles for just £3.
GOOD LUCK: I love a poinsettia this time of year but won’t get a Marks & Spencer £30 potted planter. I’ll get a couple of £2.50 pots from B&Q instead.
EASILY: A wreath will cost just £10 from a discount store like Poundshop. But I’m getting a make your own kit from Matalan for £8 – all the more fun!
