But that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. The show’s Spotify playlist enlivens its flawed characters with a balanced mix of modern indie ballads and ’90s rock tunes. The soundtrack screams teenage rage and evokes a feeling of invincibility.
In the Showtime series, the most difficult members of Yellow jersey women’s soccer team missed competing in the national team after their plane crashed into the remote wilderness of Ontario. Every new day comes to death another step for stranded teenagers as they grapple with dwindling food, water and basic supplies. Slowly but surely, the team’s once close sisterhood turns to despair in a ruthless game between predator and prey.
25 years later, in 2021, most of the surviving members lead seemingly normal lives. But beneath the surface of wealth, status and harmony, they are all still haunted by their cruel past.

It’s tunes like Tracy Bonham’s “Mother Mother” and The Prodigy’s “Firestarter” that express the recklessness and fury of teenagers. Sin plays, such as “Overture” and “The Music of the Night” in “Phantom of the Opera,” are notably played alongside adult Misty (Christina Ricci) on her deranged travels. She’s not the only one pushing boundaries. Overall, the songs emphasize how far each of the remaining Yellowjackets will go to erase their names and erase themselves from their unspeakable past.
The driving soundtrack also features “Shoop” by Salt-N-Pepa, “Uninvited” by Alanis Morissette, “Today” by The Smashing Pumpkins and The Cranberries’ iconic “Dreams.”
