ISTANBUL (Reuters) – A superyacht linked to Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich docked in the Turkish resort of Bodrum on Monday after bypassing the waters of European Union countries that sanctioned the oligarch over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Abramovich was one of several wealthy Russians who were blacklisted by the EU last week, and EU governments have acted in recent days to confiscate yachts and other luxury goods from them.

World governments are trying to isolate President Vladimir Putin and his allies over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which the Kremlin is calling a “special military operation.”

Last week, Abramovich flew to Moscow after leaving Istanbul in his private jet. According to flight tracking data, it was a second trip by an Abramovich-linked jet between the Turkish city and the Russian capital in three days.

A spokesman for Abramovich did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

There was no indication Abramovich was on the 140-meter (460-foot) yacht Solaris when she docked in Bodrum on Monday afternoon, just over a week after she left Montenegro’s Adriatic resort of Tivat on March 13.

Since then, the ship, which marine traffic monitoring agency said is sailing under a Bermuda flag, had been heading south for the past few days, circumnavigating the Greek island of Crete before reaching Turkish waters on Monday morning.

It spent the day cruising north, hugging the Turkish coast and steering away from the nearby Greek islands before arriving in Bodrum, where pictures showed the imposing white ship towering over other moored boats.

The superyacht was built in a German shipyard and put to sea for the first time early last year. According to reports in the luxury goods publications SuperYachtFan, SuperYacht and Forbes, she is one of a number of yachts owned by Abramovich.

Its final voyage began on March 8th when it left a shipyard in Barcelona where it was repaired.

A second yacht linked to Abramovich, Eclipse, is currently cruising south of the Greek island of Rhodes and also appears to be en route to Turkey, according to Marine Traffic.

Several groups have been confirmed as bidders to buy Abramovich’s English football club Chelsea, which has also been hit by British government sanctions following the Russian invasion.
