xQc refutes Mizkif’s claim that women on Twitch are bound by the “glass ceiling”.

Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel dismissed Mizkif’s claim that women are bound by what he called the “glass ceiling” on Twitch, insisting it largely depends on their approach and strategy.

On March 6, Mizkif claimed women had it “much easier,” hitting the 100-200 mark on Twitch. He also said he believes they are bound by a “glass ceiling” that is almost “impossible to penetrate.”

However, xQc contradicts this setting. He thinks it’s true to an extent, but it depends on the nature of their content – and specifically whether their strategy is based on paying attention to parasocial viewers.

Mizkif claimed women have it “much easier” when they break out on Twitch.

“That’s half true and half disingenuous,” xQc said. “If you take the argument at face value, that’s correct. It’s true that women have an overall easier time reaching the 200-300 viewer mark because of certain stimuli.”

Referring to the glass ceiling claims, he said: “If you care deeply about parasocial viewers and give them what they want, you are paying attention to them. But what happens when the numbers go up? People get less attention, so they watch less.”

On the contrary, he stated: “If you focus on being entertaining from the start and creating an entertaining stream, regardless of the attention given to each person, you will break that ceiling overall.”

For this reason hWe don’t think it affects all women on Twitch. “With these techniques, it’s easier for women to hit the 200-300 mark,” he said. “But you’re only going to blow your mind if you direct things like that.”

xQc referenced Pokimane to illustrate his point. “There were times when she was more concerned with individuals, but later she focused entirely on gameplay and entertainment, which are completely separate.”

Poki is indeed an outlier when it comes to success. After all, she’s the ninth most streamed streamer on the platform. Still, xQc believes she’s the perfect example of a woman breaking through the supposed glass ceiling. xQc refutes Mizkif’s claim that women on Twitch are bound by the “glass ceiling”.
