Newcastle are monitoring Alexandre Lacazette’s contract situation at Arsenal.

The Frenchman will leave for free at the end of the season and is attracting the interest of a host of clubs from across Europe.

Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, Marseille and Newcastle are all eyeing a potential move.

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is interested in returning to Borussia Monchengladbach when his contract expires in 2024.

The Swiss international left the German side for Arsenal in 2016 for £35m, as it was his dream to play in England.

Regarding his future, Xhaka told RP Online: “I never switched from Borussia to Arsenal for the money; It is a dream for me to play in England.

“I just renewed my contract, there are still two and a half years left.

“I’ll be 32 then, and if Max Eberl is willing to take me back when I’m 32, my door will be open.”

Marc Overmars is said to not want to move from Ajax to become Newcastle’s director of football.

The Arsenal legend, who won the Premier League and FA Cup in the 1997-98 season, has been linked with a move to Tyneside following a £300m takeover by the club.
