Wynonna Judd opens up a month after mother Naomi Judd’s death: ‘I feel so helpless right now’

Wynonna Judd has been reflecting on her life and mental state a month after the death of her mother Naomi.

Naomi Judd committed suicide on April 30, according to her daughter Ashley Judd. She was 76 years old.

Wynonna, who duetted with Naomi in country music group The Judds, sent a message to her fans on Sunday (May 29) to let them know how she’s been doing since the death of her mother.

Attached to a photo of her appearing at a televised celebration of life for her mother on May 15, Judd began her message by admitting she didn’t know what to say because “there’s so much right now happened in the world”.

She explained, “I know the pain of losing Mom to suicide on April 30 is such that I often feel like I can never fully accept and surrender to the truth that left her like she did.

“The Judds story can’t end like this.”

“I know I feel so helpless — right now,” she continued, adding that listening to her mother’s 1990 song “Love Can Build A Bridge” helped her feel better.

“I know that as cheesy as it sounds, ‘love can build a bridge,'” she wrote. “I find myself humming the song Mom wrote for the fans at night here on the farm.

“I really know that I can’t handle this grieving process on my own and that it’s okay to seek help.”

Towards the end of her message, Judd thanked her fans for their love and support. She vowed to “keep fighting for my faith, for my SELF, for my family, and I WILL keep showing up and singing.”
