Woman, man in custody after Garner police pursuit ends in crash into home

GARNER, NC (WNCN) — A driver fleeing Garner Police Department crashed a car into the front of a house Monday night, police said.
The incident began at 7:24 p.m. when Garner police tried to stop a car for a traffic violation along Benson Road off Lakeside Drive, according to Garner police spokesman Lt. Kevin Anderson.
The man driving the car then sped away. A brief chase ensued and the driver drove through the front yard of a house and crashed into the front of a brick house, Anderson said.
There was minor structural damage to the home. The car was also damaged.
The man who was driving and a woman who was a passenger in the car ran away from the scene, Anderson said.
They were both soon caught, he said.
No injuries were reported.
