The incident began at 7:24 p.m. when Garner police tried to stop a car for a traffic violation along Benson Road off Lakeside Drive, according to Garner police spokesman Lt. Kevin Anderson.

The man driving the car then sped away. A brief chase ensued and the driver drove through the front yard of a house and crashed into the front of a brick house, Anderson said.
