Woman escapes, dog injured as fire severely damages Raleigh home

RALEIGH, NC (WNCN) — A home in Raleigh was badly damaged by a fire Saturday afternoon.
The incident was reported around 5:15 p.m. at a two-story house on the 1600 block of Brownairs Lane, which is in a neighborhood off South New Hope Road in southeast Raleigh.
Raleigh Fire Department officials said a woman was home when the fire broke out. She escaped without injury, but a dog did not respond when it was taken out of the home.
Firefighters gave the dog oxygen and the dog later recovered, officials said.
About 35 firefighters responded.
After the fire, several neighbors were gathered in front of the house and along the street.
The burned-out house was still standing but had extensive damage on both levels, including a garage. Most of the fire damage was concentrated in the front of the home, firefighters later said.
No people were injured. Investigators were on site Saturday night trying to determine the cause of the fire.
