The city of Sheboygan Falls, which owns part of the hillside, has contracted to cut down the trees, but a city official told sister station WISN 12 News that the backlog of work has brought the felling to a halt.

That’s what the residents here are struggling with.

“Oh my God, I can’t stop thinking about it. And it’s a loss that shouldn’t have been,” Thede said.

Police have yet to release the identity of the woman killed by the fallen tree.
