Woman decorating tree crashes through roof during thunderstorm

COLORADO SPRINGS (KDVR) – A homeowner decided to make the light of a tree crash into her home during a Colorado windstorm by hanging Christmas decorations from the tree.

“Could also be a decoration in a nightmare before Christmas,” Jennifer Ackland shared.

Ackland was not at home when the tree crashed into her dining room. Instead, she came home to a great surprise.

“I was shocked. I panicked a little bit so it was just a little bit of shock. I kind of like what’s going on here,” said Ackland.

The tree is a very large tree, about 30-40 feet tall. Ackland said none of her pets were injured, just mildly agitated.

Acropolis is trying to stay optimistic about the situation.

“You have to do with it because I can’t do anything about it so maybe try to enjoy it a little bit,” Ackland says. “For me, it’s not worth your grief. You have to try to have a good attitude to things like this, it’s annoying but could be worse.”

National Weather Service Office in Boulder translates Wind alarms from across the state. Some strong winds crossed 100 mph.
