Woman charged with involuntary manslaughter by intoxication after a serious New Year’s Day accident killed three and injured four in northwest Harris County
Jennifer Velasquez was arrested Friday morning and taken to jail, records show.
According to court documents, the 32-year-old told deputies she drank five beers and two fireball shots before the crash.
Investigators say she was driving a Rav4 at 90mph in a 45mph zone when she struck a red Toyota Sienna on Barker Cypress Road in Barkers Branch. The Sienna refused to budge when making a left turn and was hit by the Rav4, authorities say.
Three of the six people in the Sienna were ejected during the crash, lawmakers said. Two of them were pronounced dead at the scene. MPs said they were not wearing seat belts.
