Woman buying more than $300 worth of groceries for strangers at Dollar General in Aldine

ALDINE, Texas (KTRK) – Employees at a Dollar General in the Aldine area won’t forget the kindness one woman showed to their community last week.

Pearl entered the store last Friday and paid for all of the shopper’s items. Now, Lavine Robicheaux, an employee, wants to make sure Pearl is recognized for her good deed.

“When you see things like that, you want to recognize people because they are doing things from their heart,” says Robicheaux.

Robicheaux wanted to recognize shoppers for what she did, so she tweeted a photo of Pearl and the many carts she had filled with groceries to give away in the area.

“It made me feel good. That’s why I asked to take her picture,” Robicheaux said.

Robicheaux said Pearl looks like a regular customer. Then she noticed Pearl refilling basket after basket and they knew something special was going on.

“She went back and bought two baskets,” said Robicheaux. It took two of us to check on her. “She took three more baskets and she just filled them with food.”

Robicheaux said Pearl didn’t want other customers to know she was making purchases, so she told them it was a courtesy of Dollar General.

“She said, ‘Don’t tell them I’m buying it. Just tell them it’s on Dollar General. I don’t want them to recognize me,” said Robicheaux. “She wasn’t comfortable with them saying thank you to her.”

Robicheaux said there are a lot of people in their area who need help, and it’s lucky someone like Pearl comes around.

“A lot of people in our area, they’re doing well but they’re doing well enough for them. Sometimes they can bless other people,” Robicheaux said. “She’s sharing it with people she doesn’t know.”

If Robicheaux is lucky enough to see Pearl again, she has a message for the secret shopper.

“I would say, ‘Go ahead and try to pass it on to others,'” said Robicheaux.
