A 30-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly hitting and killing two men with her car on Long Island on Wednesday before fleeing the scene.
Johanna Iovino, of Lake Ronkonkoma, was arrested and charged with two counts of leaving the scene resulting in death, Suffolk County Police said.
Iovino is said to have driven her car into 37-year-old Ryan Walker and 46-year-old Robert Kehlenbeck as they were working on the engine of a roadside pickup truck around 5:30pm on Wednesday. The 1989 F-150 pickup was parked in front of Walker’s home on Express Drive South in Holtsville.
Iovino allegedly fled the scene before an ambulance took both men to Stony Brook University Hospital. Walker was pronounced dead on arrival, while Kehlenbeck died of his injuries days later, police said.
Iovino was charged in the First Circuit Court in Central Islip on Sunday. A judge set bail at $100,000, which Iovino failed to post.
She was led out of the 4th Precinct in Hauppauge on Sunday with her hands tied in front of her and wearing a T-shirt that read “Keep Calm I’m Essential.”
