A WOMAN was raped in a park by an unknown man.

The victim, 63, was attacked during daylight hours in the busy park used by dog ​​walkers, joggers and cyclists.

Police were called to reports of the woman in a distressed state at Rising Sun Park on Monday. Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Her attacker is described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s.

He had a local Northeast accent, was of medium height, and stood between 5’6″ and 5’10”.

He is also said to have been clean-shaven and may have been wearing a dark or gray hoodie and trousers.

Detective Chief Inspector Shelley Hudson said: “I would like to commend the victim’s courage at this extremely difficult time.

“This incident took place during the day in a busy park regularly used by walkers, cyclists, joggers and people enjoying the scenery.

“The victim has now been able to bravely provide us with a description and we are hoping this combined with local knowledge someone has vital information that could help us identify who is responsible.

“Incidents of this nature are rare in this area, but when they do occur, we commit to using all tactics at our disposal to bring the perpetrators to justice.”

DCI Hudson appealed to anyone who uses the park regularly or was there at the time to help with inquiries.
