PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Karl-Anthony Towns had 23 points and 10 rebounds, and the Minnesota Timberwolves went on a five-game unbeaten streak with a 116-111 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday night.
Anthony Edwards has 24 points for Minnesota, and ends an eight-game losing streak in Portland.

The loss was Portland’s fifth in a row. Anfernee Simons had a season-high 26 points on the bench for the Blazers, and Damian Lillard returned from an abdominal injury to score 24 points and pick up 11 rebounds.
Minnesota took a 12-point lead in the third round but Portland took the lead and took a 100-93 lead with 7:51 left in the game as Nassir Little trailed a 3-pointer with a two-shot. hand.
D’Angelo Russell’s 3-pointer made it 104, and Towns’ shot put Minnesota ahead 106-104 with the remaining score 3:04.

As for the Timberwolves, Russell is suspected of going into Sunday’s game with a sore right ankle. Like Lillard, he started and finished with 18 points.
Malik Beasley’s three-pointer and Towns free-throw gave Minnesota a 33-26 lead in the second half, but three equalizers for the Blazers closed the gap. Portland took a 38-36 lead on Lillard’s 3, but Minnesota took the lead 56-55.
A 12-0 scoreline early in the third quarter took Minnesota to 68-56. The Blazers drew in the round 74-72 on Lillard’s 3-pointer. Portland had a 92-89 lead on Simons’ 3-pointer at the start of the fourth quarter.
Timberwolves: Minnesota’s longest losing streak this season is six games, running from October 30 to November 10.… This is the first of four encounters between the two teams. Minnesota won last year’s series by 2-1.
