A WOKE chocolate company doesn’t mention “Advent” on their Christmas calendar.

Tony’s Chocolonely said it wanted the £13 “Countdown Calendar” to be accessible to all who celebrate festive season“.

But Andrea Williams, chief executive of Christian Concern, says it “lacks the meaning of Christmas”.

She added: “What is this countdown? Advent heralds the coming of Jesus – the reason for Advent”.

The Dutch company’s calendar, sold at Sainsbury’s, comes in plastic-free packaging, with shoppers encouraged to use their trays to grow plants.

Advent is the first season of the Church year and includes the four Sundays before Christmas.

Tony’s Chocolonely has been contacted for comment.
