On February 5, 2022, a Facebook user asked Hallmark about the lineup for this year’s Kitten Bowl.

In a surprise response, Hallmark revealed that they will no longer be moving forward with the cat-filled event.

“While we’re not currently developing animal-centric original programming, the Hallmark Channel is excited to support partners like North Shore Animal League America as part of our commitment to innovative initiatives. ideas about social responsibility,” a representative for the network said in a statement.

North Shore Senior Vice President of Operations, Joanna Yohannan, announces Diversity they received a donation from Hallmark after the Kitten Bowl was cancelled.

The GAC Family network has announced that they will be taking over the Bowl in the coming years, except that more animals than just kittens will be added starting in 2023.

Now called the Great American Rescue Bowl, the event is set up to showcase both cats and dogs.
