ANNE Hegerty aka The Governess will be missing from the show for the next series.
The TV star took to Twitter to explain her reasons for missing the new season and revealed who will replace her.
Why did Anne Hegerty leave Beat The Chasers?
Anne Hegerty, better known as The Governess, has been forced to pull out of filming for the ITV show after catching Covid.
The 63-year-old took to Twitter to tell her 161,000 followers that she is feeling “fine” but is self-isolating.
“Unfortunately I have contracted Covid-19 and will not be filming this series of #BeatTheChasers,” she said.
Anne typically appears alongside fellow chasers Mark Labbett, Jenny Ryan, Paul Sinha, Shaun Wallace, and Darragh Ennis.
Who is Anne Hegerty’s successor Issa Schultz?
Hegerty explained in a tweet that The Chase Australia star Issa Schultz will replace her.
The tweet read: “The amazing @Issa25 will fill in for me and I look forward to watching the series when it airs later this year. I feel good but I’m still positive! (in every sense). “
The new chaser, Issa, also known as The Supernerd, is actually the main hunter in the Australian version of the show.
He is an eight-time winner of the Australian Quizzing Championships and has previously appeared on television shows such as The Rich List and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
Discussing his new role, Schultz said the governess was “extremely supportive” of him taking her position, telling Radio Times, “I can’t believe I’m here. Honestly, [I’m] excited and flattered that you asked me. I always dreamed of being involved in some way with the UK version when the Australian version started because it’s a great opportunity as a dual citizen.”
Anne also gave him some useful advice about their Messenger group together.
Schultz explained: “They just said: ‘Be Issa. Australia loves it, hopefully the UK will too.’ What you see is what you get, I’m not an actor.”
Will Anne Hegerty still be on The Chase?
Anne is still with The Chase but will not be appearing this season as she is isolating during filming.
On Saturday evening (March 19), she shared a new health update with fans on Twitter.
Posting a picture of a lateral flow test, she revealed that she was now recording a negative result.
Anne said, “#thechase #beatthechasers #lurgyfree #butstillselfisolating.”
