Whoopi Goldberg has been married three times.

Her former husbands include: Alvin Martin, David Claessen and Lyle Trachtenberg.

Alvin Martin

Although Goldberg was married three times, she had only one child – her daughter, Alex, from her first marriage to Alvin Martin.

Best known as Goldberg’s former drug adviser, Martin hooked up with Goldberg in 1973.

The couple lasted six years before filing for divorce in 1979.

Martin is said to have never remarried.

David Claessen

Seven years after his divorce from Martin, Goldberg was married to David Claessen.

Claessen is a Dutch cinematographer – best known for the works of Britney Spears, Travie McCoy and Jason Mraz.

After getting married in 1986, the couple decided to separate in 1988.

Claessen was then married to British-American writer Taiye Selasi in 2013 before filing for divorce in 2015.

Lyle Tractenberg

In 1994, Goldberg married actor and ITSE union organizer Lyle Tractenberg.

The Guardian had only been married for a year before they called it quits.

After her third divorce, the presenter of The View realized that marriage was not right for her.

“It took me a while but I realized trying to make myself into something I wasn’t ready for a man. Not his fault. It’s mine,” she said.

“My marriages have all failed and I am the common denominator.”

“My commitment has never been so strong. I can say now that I have never really been in love.”

Whoppi since then, she added that she will never get married again and has even asked her friends to stop her if she announces her plans to get married a fourth time.

She said, “If you hear me walking down anyone’s path again, I want you to stick your foot out and take me.

“Some people don’t intend to get married and I don’t want to either. I’m sure that’s great for a lot of people.”
