Who won Strictly 2022? Hamza Yassin takes home the final prize

The pair took on Fleur East and Vito Coppola, Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu, and Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez in the grand final, which was broadcast on BBC One tonight (December 17).

Yassin is best known for his work on country file as a guest presenter and cameraman, he also appears on the BBC programme zooand has presented other programs on Scottish wildlife.

In the final, Yassin danced salsa to Sash!’s “Ecuador”! with Rodriguez, the Couple’s Choice to “Jerusalema – Remix” by Master KG with Burna Boy and Nomcebo Zikode, and his show dance was to “Let’s Face the Music and Dance” by Irving Berlin.

Her legendary Couple’s Choice brought the judges and viewers to tears and earned the couple their first perfect 40 on the show.

Yassin’s show dance wasn’t well received – Craig Revel Horwood called it “rocking” as there were a few mistakes. But the salsa was also the hit of the evening.

Celebrating the pair’s win, one fan tweeted: “So well deserved! Well done Hamza and Jowita. Everyone was absolutely amazing… I loved the four finalists but Hamza had this unique sparkle that lit everyone’s hearts!”

Yassin was the last man standing in this competition and viewers fell in love with him because of his big smile and those incredible lifts.

When he won the show, Yassin said, “This is the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
