Who won “I’m a Celebrity”? Past winners and what they did next

As a new series of i am a celebrity… Get me out of here! begins, you may be wondering what has become of previous winners.

Among this year’s prominent candidates is former Health Secretary Matt Hancock, who was suspended as a Conservative MP as soon as his attendance was announced.

Tony Blackburn (2002 Winner)

Broadcaster Tony Blackburn was the very first King of the Jungle after emerging victorious in the first series of i am a celebrity. After making it out of the Australian outback, he went on to work at a number of radio stations.

Phil Tufnell (winner 2003)

After winning the second season of i am a celebrity Retired cricketer Phil Tufnell later became team captain on the quiz show You think it’s all over 2005 before leading a team at the BBC A question of sport.

Kerry Katona (2004)

Kerry Katona famously became the face of Icelandic supermarkets after becoming the very first Queen of the Jungle in 2004.

Joe Pasquale (2004)

There were two series of i am a celebrity in 2004. Kerry Katona won the first in February, while comedian Joe Pasquale triumphed in December of the same year.

He got a job hosting a rebooted series of The price is correct in 2006. He appeared on dancing on ice 2013, then again the following year for an All-Stars series.

Carol Thatcher (2005)

Margaret Thatcher’s daughter beat out competition from the likes of Bobby Ball, David Dickinson and blues singer Anthony Costa to win the 2005 series.

She became a freelancer at The One Show after the win i am a celebritybut was dropped by the BBC after she referred to a black tennis player as “Golliwog” during a private chat with comedian Jo Brand and presenter Adrian Chiles.

Matt Willis (2006)

The Busted bassist hosted a spin-off I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here NOW! with his then-partner Emma Willis, a year after winning the series in 2006. The show ran until 2008.

He has interviewed other celebrities on the red carpet and reported for a number of awards shows including the Brit Awards and the Baftas.

As an actor, he had a short-term role in EastEnders as a friend of the character Stacey Branning and as a stage actress in shows including West End productions Flashdance: The Musical, and Evil.

Christopher Biggins (2007)

The actor and TV presenter was a popular winner with i am a celebrity fans in 2007 and has remained a staple on British television.

In 2016, he caused controversy and was removed from office Celebrity Big Brother House for remarks that “were capable of severe offense to fellow residents and the viewing audience.”

Joe Swash (2008)

That EastEnders Star recently won last year’s series of dancing on ice, but before that he was crowned King of the Jungle on i am a celebrity in 2008.

For the next decade he was part of the presenting team at the i am a celebrity Spin-off show on ITV2. He has also acted in various pantomimes.

Gino D’Acampo (2009)

The Italian chef managed to survive a series of grueling challenges during his time in the jungle and remains a popular character on television cooking shows.

Stacey Solomon (2010)

Like previous winner Kerry Katona, Solomon became a face of Icelandic supermarkets after being crowned Queen of the Jungle.

Since then, she has hosted a number of TV shows and is a panelist on the show Permissive women. She also served as a co-host on the i am a celebrity spin off, extra camp. She is married to colleague i am a celebrity Winner Joe Swash.

Dougie Poynter (2011)

Boy band members seem to be having a good time on reality TV. Poynter won in 2011 and went on to join McBusted, a “supergroup” boy band formed by Busted and McFly, and his rock band A.

Charlie Brooks (2012)

After winning the 2012 series of i am a celebritythe EastEnders Star returned to continue playing the antagonist Janine Butcher.

Brooks left the show in 2014 and has since narrated the Channel 5 show Botched bodies. She also released a fitness DVD.

Kian Egan (2013)

Kian Egan came on as manager The Voice of Ireland after his win i am a celebrity.

In 2020 he reunited with Westlife for a special tour celebrating the band’s 20th anniversary. Westlife released a new album entitled The same year Spectrum.

Carl ‘Mist’ Fogarty (2014)

The former motorcycle racer is one of the few winners who appears to have dodged offers of endorsement deals and TV appearances after winning i am a celebrity sticking mostly to charity work in 2014.

Vicky Pattison (2015)

the previous ex on the beach star was inundated with TV offers after becoming Queen of the Jungle in 2015.

She became a panelist Permissive women and also presented I’m a Celebrity: Extra Camp. She has written an autobiography and two novels and has appeared on a number of shows including celebrity bus trip and celebrity master chef.

Scarlett Moffatt (2016)

Georgia Toffolo (2017)

Toffolo was one of the more controversial winners of i am a celebrity thanks to her dedication to MP Jacob Rees Mogg.

Giovanna Fletcher (2020)

Giovanna Fletcher was declared the winner i am a celebrity… Get me out of here! in 2020.

The podcaster and author beat out fellow competitor Jordan North to be named the show’s first-ever Queen of the Castle, as the series was filmed in Wales.

Fletcher, 35, is perhaps best known as the host of the Happy mom, happy baby Podcast, an audio show featuring Kate Middleton’s first-ever podcast interview. She is married to McFly singer Tom Fletcher.

Danny Miller (2021)

Emmerdale Star Danny Miller became the series’ first King of the Castle last year. He left the soap earlier this year.
