Who to root this weekend

The Ohio State team is feeding their CFP hopes with a rope. In fact, I personally believe that they should not get involved even if mass chaos ensues. I don’t think they deserve it after the two losses they went through and how they got it.

However, their playoff hopes are still dim. If you want this team to make it to the Playoffs, there’s a very specific scenario where you need to be rooted to be able to happen this weekend. The first team you have to root is Utah. They have to beat Oregon again on Friday night.

If that happens, Buckeye fans must then start letting Baylor beat Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship. An Ohio State losing two games better off against Baylor wisely. If Oklahoma State wins, the Buckeyes are certainly not out of the CFP discussion.

Buckeye fans also have to root for Georgia to beat Bama by so much. And I mean A LOT. Unless Bama is completely annihilated, they will lead Ohio State, even losing two. Even though they had only one quality win, the committee clearly respected them.

Cincinnati also needs to lose. Houston must beat the Bearcats to remove them from contention. This may be difficult for some Buckeye fans because Luke Fickell is a Buckeye. But Cinci getting in will definitely stop Buckeyes.

The last thing Ohio State football fans need to root for, and I hate to say this, is for TTUN to win the Big Ten. If they beat Iowa, that would remove the Big Ten from the possibility of outright elimination. TTUN needs victory to keep Ohio State’s hopes up.

I am not confident at all that these things will happen. In fact, I have very little faith. Even with all of this happening, Ohio State could still be disqualified. That’s not to say I wouldn’t root for this exact scenario.
