Who is Seann Walsh? I’m a celebrity contestant and former Strictly star who was involved in a cheating scandal

Seann Walsh is one of this year’s contenders I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!

The comedian joined the show as a “bombshell” alongside former Health Secretary Matt Hancock.

Before his headline-grabbing performance on Be sure to come dance (more on that below) The comedian and actor started his stand-up career in Brighton. Walsh performed his show in 2012 Seann to be wild at the Edinburgh Fringe and toured the country with it. His 2013 Fringe Show The King of Lies also received positive reviews.

Walsh had a role on Jack Dee’s ITV sitcom Bad moveand made numerous TV appearances on shows like Live in the Apollo and 8 out of 10 cats.

Walsh joined the lineup for Strict in 2018 and was paired with professional dancer Katya Jones.

The couple became embroiled in scandal after they were photographed and filmed kissing during the show one night. Walsh had a longtime girlfriend at the time, actress Rebecca Humphries, and Jones was married to a colleague Strict per Neil Jones. They split in 2019.

Earlier this year, during a conversation, Walsh discussed the effects of the kiss Backstage with Katherine Ryan. “What you’re thinking is, ‘What did you do to someone?'” he said. “It’s one thing to do that privately and I don’t judge anyone because everyone has their own backstory, their own life or whatever. It was awful. It was crazy.”

Walsh also admitted he can’t watch Strict in his experience, saying it “screws up my head”.

He explained, “I have such amazing memories of being on that show and then the impact of that kiss, it was crazy … I’m just a comic.”

The comedian previously spoke about how the scandal was affecting his career aspirations. In a 2021 podcast episode Take flightIt changed his life “forever,” he said.

“I was a very dreamy young man — I would dream of doing Apollo, my sitcom,” he told host Mark Whittle.

“Then suddenly it was the first time that I lived without hope.”

After the controversy, Walsh toured with a new show, Seann Walsh: Is dead. Happy now?, an open hour on the consequences of his time Strictfrom PTSD and suicidal thoughts to therapy and alcohol withdrawal.
