Who is Nils Lofgren?

Born on June 21, 1951, Nils Lofgren is a multi-talented musician, singer and songwriter.

His parents moved the family from Chicago to Washington, DC while Nils was a child, and he grew up playing the accordion.

Nils continued to study both piano and guitar, studying classical, jazz and rock music throughout his youth.

Musician who formed his first band, Grin, with George Daly and Bob Berberich in 1968.

While in a Neil Young at a location known as The Cellar Door, Nils and Neil became acquainted and formed a lasting friendship.

The three members of Grin eventually moved into the home based at Neil’s Laurel Canyon in California, where they worked together on music.

Since meeting Neil, Nils has joined his backing band and has toured with the singer over the years.

Grin broke up in 1974, and Nils Lofgren released his first solo album.

He continued to release solo music throughout the 1970s, and starred in Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band in 1978.

He continued to participate Bruce SpringsteenHis backing band, The E Street Band, in 1984.

While the original E Street Band disbanded in 1989, they reunited following Springsteen’s introduction in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999.
