Why is he leaving Channel 4?

On April 29, 2021 Jon Snow announced he is leaving Channel 4 in news coverage after “an incredible three decades” at the network.

He will now “prepare for longer projects… and represent the channel in other matters,” according to a statement from Channel 4.

Jon confirmed the news in his own statement, which read: “I am so excited by the many things I want to accomplish but I must say I have enjoyed every minute of my time with the show.

“It has given me adventure, as well as sadness in some of the stories I have to report, and also joy in reporting others, but most of all, it has given me a community to work on. Working with the most amazing group of people in wisdom, humor and understanding.

“Together, we have created a great service. I feel proud to have contributed to Channel 4 News let alone maintained the program for the past 32 years. I look forward to adventures. New saves and new challenges.”
