COOKING taking the UK Menu by storm is the owner of The Pem Sally Abé, who won the London heat of the competition.

If she continues to surprise the judges, she will see her menu served at a banquet at Alexandra Palace, London.

Who is Sally Abe?

Sally Abé was one of the finalists of the Great British Menu.

Originally from Mansfield, she had no lifelong ambition to become a chef.

It wasn’t until she was eighteen, when she was doing a mediocre office job in Sheffield, that she started cooking at home.

She then decided to enroll in hospitality business management and culinary arts at Sheffield Hallam University.

After arranging her senior year, she decided to come work at The Savoy, she explains: “As soon as I got into the kitchen, I knew that was where I wanted to be.”

In 2019, she was named Chef Worth Seeing at the 2019 National Restaurant Awards.

Her flagship restaurant The Pem focuses on a menu of dishes she loves to eat.

She has a special interest and passion for cooking with British birds and venison.

What restaurants did Sally work at?

After graduating from college, Sally worked at The Savoy and then Claridges.

She then started a five-year establishment under Brett Graham with two Michelin stars The Ledbury.

In 2017, she decided to take on the position of head chef at The Harwood Arms in Fulham.

It took about eighteen months for Sally to develop The Harwood Arms into something she could call her own.

“You never really get to put food on the menu until you’re the chef,

“It’s weird because you’ve never been trained in it; you just make other people’s food and suddenly it’s all your own. As a chef you always have lots of ideas, but it takes time. time to get used to it. can really serve them.”

After several years working at The Harwood Arms to build it and it is where it is today.

In 2021, she transitions from restaurant to adventure in an exciting project at The Conrad London St James hotel.

The battleship is called The Pem, and puts Sally at the helm of four different facilities.

In addition, she is also overseeing The Blue Boar Pub, as well as an afternoon tea room and a cocktail bar.

Great British Menu continues Tuesday, 1 March 2022 on BBC Two at 8pm.

Just like the previous series, there are three hour-long episodes shown each week, for nine consecutive weeks.

The first episode of the new season aired on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.
