Who is Babatunde Aléshé? I am a celebrity comedian contestant in profile

Among this year’s I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! Participant is Babatunde Aléshé.

Ant and Dec are back to present the latest series of ITV’s hit reality series, which returned to the Australian outback this year after two seasons in Wales during the pandemic.

Aléshé is at camp this year with stars like Boy George, Charlene White and politician Matt Hancock.

Viewers will likely recognize the actor and comedian from TV shows EastEnders and Doctor Who. He also put on a memorable performance alongside his friend, comedian Mo Gilligan celebrity glasses box.

The 36-year-old has toured the UK as a comedian, appearing at venues including the Soho Theatre, the O2 and the Hackney Empire.

He won the Best Newcomer award at the Black Entertainment Comedy Awards as well as the 2019 Amused Moose National New Comic Award.

In 2021, Aléshé supported Gilligan on fellow comedian’s sold-out national tour.

His other TV appearances include the BBC Romesh Ranganathan’s remake of The Weakest Link, to guess on Comedy Central, The Stand Up Sketch Show on ITV2 and the Jonathan Ross stand up club on ITV1.

Aléshé was also featured in the Channel 4 documentary Black, British and funny.

Besides his work in comedy, Aléshé is also an actor and has appeared in a long list of shows such as The dead walkand movies like pelican blood.

On stage he played at the Soho Teatre Ilya Ile in 2009 and Requiem for Tomorrow at the Shaw Theater in 2006.

When he spoke about his decision to go to the jungle this year i am a celebrity, said Aléshé: “Mo thinks it will be fun, but he also thinks it’s good that I’m taking part. He may be too busy to vote for me for the trials, but in his mind he will be!”

The star also admitted he’s scared of “absolutely everything” and predicted he’d spend a good chunk of the series “screaming a lot.”
