Who are the members of Blackpink?

South Korean K-pop band Blackpink are breaking records as fast as they set them. Here’s an overview of who makes up the group:

The band members all graduated from the famous South Korean K-pop trainee system.

Jennie spent the longest time in it of any member of the group and left after six years.

She moved back to South Korea in 2010 after living in New Zealand.

Impressively, she is fluent in English, Korean and Japanese.

Her individual track Solo made her the first member of the band to release her own music when she did so in 2018.

She will make her acting debut in 2023 in the HBO series The Idol opposite Lily-Rose Depp.

Jisoo

Before joining BlackPink, Jisoo was an actress and starred in many commercials.

This led to her starring role in JTBC’s historical K-drama series Snowdrop.

Despite being the only non-English speaking member of the band, she is fluent in Korean, Japanese and Chinese.

It is planned that she will release her own solo album together with the other band members this year.

Rose was born in New Zealand and raised in Australia. She is fluent in English and actually had to learn Korean when she joined the K-pop trainee system.

She is the band’s lead singer and her fan base can’t get enough of her unique tones.

Rose released her own solo album in 2021.

Lisa

Born and raised in Thailand, Lisa learned Korean after moving to South Korea in 2011.

She is also fluent in English and Japanese.

A fan favorite, she is best known for her unique dance moves and rapping, often bursting out into spontaneous dances that inevitably go viral.

After releasing her own solo album, she received an MTV Video Music Award for Best K-Pop Video in 2022.

She was also recognized with two awards for “Most Viewed YouTube Music Video by a Solo Artist in 24 Hours” and “Most Viewed YouTube Music Video by a Solo K-Pop Artist in 24 Hours” by Guinness World Records.

The band has released nine albums in total, four of which are Japanese albums.

BlackPink often releases singles and has collaborated with Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga, and Selena Gomez.
