White House rips up GOP Hunter Biden probe as ‘conspiracy theories’

The White House on Thursday blasted House Republicans for promising to investigate whether President Biden was “compromised” by his son Hunter’s foreign dealings.

“Rather than working with President Biden to address issues important to the American people, like lower costs, the top priority for congressional Republicans is to pursue President Biden with politically motivated attacks full of long-debunked conspiracy theories,” Ian Sams said , a spokesman for the Office of the White House Attorney, told The Post.

“President Biden will not let these political attacks distract him from his focus on Americans’ priorities, and we hope that congressional Republicans will join us in addressing them rather than wasting time and resources on political vengeance “, he added.

Sams was responding to two senior Republicans in the House of Representatives who said earlier Thursday they would be looking into whether the 79-year-old president “poses a security risk and whether he is compromised by foreign governments” in relation to his eldest son’s “shady” foreign business deals .

Reps. James Comer (R-Ky.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who will chair next year’s House Judiciary and Oversight Committees respectively, announced that investigating the Biden family will be a priority in the next Congress.

“Our investigation involves Joe Biden,” Comer said. “Was Joe Biden directly involved in Hunter Biden’s dealings and is he compromised? This is our investigation.”

However, not all House Republicans appear to be on board the investigation into the Biden family.

Long Island GOP Rep.-elect George Santos argued Monday that lawmakers should avoid focusing on “bipartisan” inquiries, including a possible probe into Hunter Biden’s business dealings, for at least the first six months of the new Congress .

“If sections of our party want to get involved in this investigation, that’s their prerogative,” Santos told Fox News this week. “I don’t want to waste my time in Washington dealing with bipartisan issues. I want to come here to deliver results.”

“We can be part of investigations as long as it doesn’t confuse us and take us away from making American lives better or not worse,” Santos added.
