POKEMON Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’s map has dense pockets of fog – but you can easily clear it with Defog HM.
The new one Pokemon the title is a remake of 2007’s Diamond and Pearl, so unless you’ve played the original, Sinnoh’s misty regions might catch you off guard.

But as with most environmental obstacles in the series, all you need to do is unlock a specific Pokemon ability.
In this case, it’s the Defog Hidden Move (HM) that you can clear the fog away – although it only lifts it temporarily.
But with Defog in hand, you can remove it again whenever you need to.

City of Pasttoria
First stop: Pasttoria City! Crasher Wake is a Gym Leader and specializes in Water-type Pokemon.
You’ll need to defeat the trainer and earn the Fen badge to be able to use the Defog HM outside of battles.
So, assemble a team of Pokemon that can come across electrics and grasses and get to work.
Great Marsh Safari Area
With your shiny new Fen badge in hand, head to Pastoria City’s Great Marsh Safari Area.
It takes you 500 Pokedollars to enter, this will buy you 30 Safari Balls and a 500 step limit.
Fortunately, you won’t need to venture too far; The blue-haired NPC we’re after is located near the entrance.
Just start a chat with him and he will give you Defog without any fuss.
How to use Defog in Pokemon Brillaint Diamond and Shining Pearl
Now that you have Defog HM and defeated Crasher, you can clear those nasty fogs.
Unlike other games in the series, you don’t need to teach Defog HM to any of your Pokemon.
So no need to drag Pokemon around that you don’t necessarily want just so you can navigate the environment.
When you reach a foggy area, just access your Poketech with R1 and navigate to ‘Hidden Move’.
Select ‘Defog’ and a wild, random Pokemon will appear to do your bidding.
