WHEEL of Fortune viewers were outraged after a contestant skidded a brand new Audi Q3 because she stuttered while solving a puzzle.
Charlene Rubush made it to the Bonus Round with $16,500 in the bank on Tuesday night’s show.
She appeared to solve the puzzle in “What are you doing?” and looks set to win a brand new car, Yahoo Entertainment report.
At first, she says, “Choose the right card,” incorrectly, before she guesses correctly: “Choose the right word.”
Charlene submitted her answer before the sirens sounded, but she seemed to have paused too long between the four words of her correct answer.
The game’s judges said contestants needed to say the words “constantly” to win the prize.
Fans expressed outrage when they thought that Thai Trac Nghien slipped.
Poker player and former Jeopardy! star Alex Jacob said: “Come to Wheel of Fortune, the woman who literally chose the right words. Give her the car.”
One Twitter user simply posted: “Here’s the bull.”
Another asked Audi if they could provide Charlene with the car she missed.
The angry fan declared: “I am no longer a ‘wheel watcher’ because of this”.
And, a third vented: “Wheel of Fortune, you just lost a viewer. I’m ‘picking the right word’ to never watch the show again.
“I’m done. I’m with you. She deserves that Audi. That rule is the silliest thing ever. She got it right before time ran out.”
Charlene may have missed the Audi but left the show with $16,500 and a vacation.
Wheel of Fortune first aired in the US in January 1975, and its 39th series hit theaters in September of this year.
Game presenter and TV personality Pat Sajak has presented the show since 1981.
Sajak became the longest-running game show host, surpassing Bob Barker, who presented Price is Right from 1972 to 2007.
