‘Wheel of Fortune’ contestant sparks Twitter reaction on ‘Stupidest settlement ever’

Rotation luck celebrated its 47th anniversary on Thursday with an episode that left viewers laughing after a contestant’s hilarious wrong answer.

A contestant named Shafi had a pretty good night on the long-running game show, winning huge amounts of money with lots of correct answers along the way. However, incorrect conjectures often come to people’s minds the most, and that is certainly the case here.

In the “Lyrics” category, the board puzzle reads “TH_S _AND DONE FOR YOU AND ME”, a reference to Woodie Guthrie’s hit song “This Land is Your Land”. Shafi took control of the wheel and decided to shoot for the answer, which should seem pretty obvious to most viewers at home.

“This band made for you and me,” Shafi guessed wrong, leading to some shocked and confused reactions on social media. “We may need to do some sort of test on the following contestants,” one viewer tweeted, while another called Shafi’s speculation “the dumbest #WheelofFortune workaround from so far”.

The moment becomes all the more comical when it turns out that Shafi looks exactly like Oscar-winning actor Joe Pesci. “If you are watching #WheelOfFortune like I am 28 years old, close your eyes and hear Shafi speak – it really is Joe Pesci,” one fan wrote, a sentiment shared by many others.

In the end, however, Shafi got the last laugh, as despite the flaws, he made it to the Bonus Round – and won! So the brief moment of embarrassment was probably worth it, as he ended up walking away with a total of $71,150 in winnings.
