What’s going on with the fire at the Parkside Resort in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee?

The Wears Valley Fire Department issued an evacuation order in the Parkside Resort area just after 6 p.m. Thursday, according to Wat.

According to the fire department, the fire was located near Little Cove Road and Pine Mountain Road in Pigeon Forge.

The fire department also took to their Facebook page to keep the community updated.

“If you’re staying at the Parkside Resort within a 2 mile radius of that location DROP IMMEDIATELY.

“A temporary shelter is being established at Pigeon Forge Community Center. 170 Community Center Drive, Pigeon Forge.”

Parkside Resorts CEO Brandy Hanwell told the local news outlet that a fire was raging at the resort and first responders had evacuated more than 200 people.

“According to many people there has been a fire at the Parkside resort. At this time, we have evacuated the resort but there are no structural fires.

“Fortunately, it is raining now and we feel confident that this will soon be rectified,” the resort said on Facebook.

What do officials say about the fire?

Dave Dierks, WCYB Meteorology Team Leader, tweeted that it looks like rain is heading for the area.

According to the Sevier County Emergency Management Agency, a shelter is being set up at the Pigeon Forge Community Center.

The center is located at 170 Community Center Drive.

The situation is still ongoing at this time.

After the evacuation order was implemented, many people near the area and members of Pigeon Forge took to Twitter to comment.

Some users simply wanted to warn others of a high-risk situation in the area.

One user wrote: “The Wears Valley Fire Department is asking those living in the Parkside resort half a mile to evacuate due to a fast-moving fire!”

Parkside Resort is located in the Smoky Mountains, just 15 minutes from famous resort Dollywood.
