Texas Chainsaw Massacre exploded onto screens in 1974 — and nearly 50 years later, Netflix is ​​set to scrap an addition to the franchise.

The trailer for the new film – starring John Larroquette, Mark Burnham and Alice Krige – was released last week.

Finally released for Netflix days after the trailer, the prequel sees the chainsaw-wielding killer Leatherface return to screens.

Sally Hardesty – Marilyn Burns

Marilyn Burns was born in 1949 in Pennsylvania before her family moved to Houston, Texas, where she graduated from college.

She was one of the smaller actresses cast in the series, having made small appearances in several films.

Marilyn was the first instance in Robert Altman’s Brewster McCloud, before appearing in Lovin’ Molly and The Great Waldo Pepper.

She was then cast as Sally Hardesty in the Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

The character is a teenager who, along with her paralyzed brother and friends, visits the spooky old house of her grandparents.

There, the young character confronts cannibal Leatherface, who tries to kill her with a chainsaw.

Marilyn continued to receive a number of roles in Hollywood after the film, including Helter Skelter – a series about serial killer Charles Manson.

The series was nominated for an impressive three Emmy Awards.

Later in her career, Marilyn reprized her role as Sally in the 1994 film Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation.

She also appeared in Texas Chainshaw 3D, just a few months before her shocking death in August 2014, when she passed away in her sleep.

Marilyn suffered a heart attack and died at the age of 65.

Franklin Hardesty – Paul Partain

Paul Partain was born and raised in Austin, Texas in the 1940s before joining the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

Upon returning from the battlefield, he began working in a restaurant inside a theater, sparking his interest in acting.

In 1974, he was asked by his boss to audition for the film Lovin’ Molly, and got a role in the feature film, which kicked off his career.

He went on to be cast as Franklin Hardesty – Sally’s brother – in the movie franchise, despite being auditioning for a Hitch-hiker.

After the film’s success, Paul went on to star in the 1975 film Race with the Devil alongside Peter Fonda and Warren Oates.

He also appeared in the 1966 film Rolling Thunder, before deciding to retire from the limelight and return to his electrical work.

Paul worked for Zenith Electronic Corporation for a decade before making a cameo appearance in the remake of Texas Chainsaw in 1994.

Paul died of cancer in 2005 in his late 60s.

Kirk – William Vale

William Vale was born in 1950 in Texas, and began his acting career at the age of 20.

His first acting role was in the 1974 short film No Chance before he was cast as Kirk in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

After the movie, he went on to appear in other scary films Poltergeist, Implosion Man, Tomb and Final Demon.

In addition to acting, William also works as a costume designer and has helped create costumes for several successful performances.

Among them are The Craigslist Killer, Gilmore Girls, American Tragedy, The Secret She Carried and Dead Before Dawn.

His last acting credit was in 2012 – when it appeared the star had retired from the limelight and continued a private life away from prying eyes.

Jerry – Allen Danziger

Allen Danziger was born in 1942 in the Bronx, New York – the same city where he graduated with a degree in Social Psychology in 1964.

He happened to be studying acting at the University of Texas, where he studied for a master’s degree – and made his film debut in 1969.

Starring in Eggshells, directed by Texas Chain Saw Massacre director Tobe – he decided to audition for the scary movie.

He landed the role of Jerry, and despite the film’s success, he completely retired from acting after its release.

In 1978, Allen founded his own entertainment company, Three Ring Service, which organizes corporate events and parties.

He currently lives in Texas with his son, daughter-in-law and two grandsons – living a normal life away from the limelight.

Pam – Teri McMinn

Teri McMinn was born in Houston, Texas in 1951 – and was a keen actress from the early years she enrolled in theater school.

She was cast as Pam in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre after director Tobe and producer Kim Henkel found her in the newspaper.

After her first film, she moved to Los Angeles to study acting before moving to New York to become a model.

The long-legged model starred in several American commercials and campaigns while also filming in movie theaters.

Teri also starred in the 1989 horror film The Cellar and the thriller Butcher Boys.

She currently lives in California, and is busy working on a new movie called Awakening – starring Jeremy Miller and Steve Collins.

Leatherface – Gunnar Hansen

Lead actor Gunnar was born in Iceland – but moved to the United States when he was just a kid, first living in Maine and then Texas.

He graduated from the University of Texas before working as a computer operator and bartender, as well as pursuing American football.

Gunnar then turned his attention to acting when he auditioned for the role of the fearsome killer Leatherface.

He takes his lead role very seriously, and is said to have researched children with special needs to prepare for the tough role.

After the film, Gunnar’s acting career flourished, and he starred in a number of television series such as The Demon Lover and Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers.

He also had roles in Campfire Tales, Mosquito, Freakshow, Exploding Angel and the 1999 film Hellblock 13.

Gunnar was also offered a number of hit classics over the years – but turned down some roles to fill others.

In 2013, he returned to the screen in Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, where he played Boss Sawyer.

Gunnar is also an excellent writer, having released two books of his own – Edge of Time and Chain Saw Confidential.

The star has also written for magazines, wrote screenplays and directed several documentaries throughout her career.

Gunnar tragically passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2015 at the age of 68.
