What is the big incident?

A major incident is an emergency situation in which at least one of the emergency services, the NHS and local authorities must make special arrangements and involve many people.

City Hall defines it as “beyond the normal scope of business operations and has the potential to cause serious harm, damage, disruption or risk to human life or welfare, services essential, environmental or national security”.

The City Hall added: “The severity of the consequences associated with a major incident has the potential to limit or complicate the ability of those to respond to resources and manage the incident.”

The government website states that each local council has an emergency plan that covers major incidents such as floods, flu pandemics and traffic accidents.

“The Omicron variant has quickly taken over with the number of cases rapidly increasing and the number of patients using Covid-19 in our hospital is increasing again.

“We are already feeling the impact across the capital and while we are still learning about this variation, it is true that key London agencies work closely together to minimize the impact on the city. ours, including helping to protect a vital immunization program.”

No new measures have been introduced so far.

Khan has urged Londoners to head in if they haven’t already done so.

“We know that vaccines provide our best protection against the virus,” he said.

“There are now more clinics in London offering vaccines than at any other time during a pandemic.

“I urge all Londoners to book an appointment or visit one of the many walking centers across the capital as soon as possible.”

What does a major breakdown mean for the NHS?

Major incidents require a special response from emergency services and often involve more than one agency implementing emergency arrangements.

In practice, this means that resources will be redeployed and the government may be asked to step in and help.

It means that services cannot function as they should and are placed in an emergency situation.

To limit infections and save Christmas, Britons have been urged to come forward and get their boosted stabs or by Reservations on the NHS portal or to walking centers.

The Sun is also asking readers to subscribe to Jabs Army to make the rollout go as smooth and fast as possible.

Mr Khan announced a major incident in the capital earlier this year on 8 January amid increased cases – but it was stalled on 26 February due to a drop in numbers.
