Wayne Rooney predicts Man Utd will miss the top 4 as they are still ‘picking up pieces’ from Sir Alex’s exit

WAYNE Rooney has predicted Manchester United will miss the top 4 – because they are still ‘picking up’ the scandalous transfer policy at the end of the Sir Alex Ferguson era.
Rooney, UnitedAll-time top scorer, says Ralf Rangkick’s players have a duty to solve their problems – even if it means doing so without a manager.
He told talkSPORT: “United will not win the league for the next two or three years.
“Honestly, they’re a long way from doing it. City and Liverpool on another level.
“There is no such stability at the club. There is a decision that has to be made at the end of the season and it has to be the right one.
“It will be very difficult for them to be in the top four right now. You can see low confidence and other problems around the club.
“The performances were not great. They have to improve and the players need to show their bravery, that they come together and fight for the club.
“There have been matches that I have watched where I have questioned that and if it continues, I don’t think they will make the top four.

“There needs to be a serious conversation, without the coach and the staff there.
“They have to come together, be friends or not, but come together for the club.”
Rooney believes that the seeds of the current chaos were planted more than a decade ago, with the rot starting when the club let out Carlos Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo both.
And in new Amazon documentary “Rooney,” he recalls: “We sold Tevez and then we sold Ronaldo.
“I am the only player left with the high title. I went into Alex Ferguson’s office and said to him: ‘What’s the plan here? We brought in two unproven English youngsters’.
“I remember Alex Ferguson’s answer was ‘get out of my office’.”
Rooney added: “When you look back five years since that meeting, Alex Ferguson knew where the club was going and he got out of there as quickly as he could.
“They’re still picking up the pieces now.”
Rooney then shocked United – and Fergie – by attempting a move to Manchester City.
He added: “They offered me a £200,000-a-week contract, so it would be pretty easy for me to say ‘5 years and £200k a week – let me sign it now’.
“It would be pretty easy for me to do that.
“But I want to be successful on the pitch and that means more to me.
“I thought I would get fans like me again and make them sing my name again.
“I will do anything for that club to win. I will cheat for them to win.
“We have won league championship after championship. We’ve been to three Champions League finals in four years.
“In terms of what we achieved, it was probably the most successful four or five years in Premier League history but it was lost because Manchester United in 1999 won the Treble.”
