Walking Dead: Norman Reedus defended himself from Jeffrey Dean Morgan after Melissa McBride controversy

Jeffrey Dean Morgan has called out fans of the Walking Dead about her treatment of Norman Reedus.

On Wednesday (April 27), it was announced that Melissa McBride, who plays Carol Peletier on the series, will no longer be part of a previously announced spin-off series with Reedus.

The pair were set to star in their own Carol and Daryl Dixon series once the main show wrapped in March 2023.

However, when it was reported that McBride had resigned, no reason was given and fans began to turn against Reedus, suggesting he may have been responsible for her departure.

Morgan, who plays Negan on the series, was furious at such claims and stepped in on Friday (April 29) to clarify matters.

“Some of you guys have gone WAY too far,” he wrote on Twitter. “TOXIC. Attack norm for crap he has NOTHING to do with? Melissa made a call that was hers alone. She wants/needs a break. Respect that.”

He continued: “Factors that are nobody’s business. Norm who gave you all more than anyone else. Just S***TY.”

When a fan responded that Reedus may have requested a specific location for filming the series so he could be closer to his family, Morgan replied, “Norman had nothing to do with choosing the location. This decision is all about stories, ideas… MONEY. This is studio/network. Not actor.
