Wakanda Forever’ continues box office domination

For the second straight week, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever reigned supreme at the box office.

The sequel to the 2018 Marvel Studios film grossed nearly $18 million, according to IMDB’s Box Office Mojo as of Friday.

Since its release on November 11, “Wakanda Forever” has already surpassed $400 million in worldwide sales, according to Collider.

Black comedy-horror The Menu, which RogerEbert.com calls “a feast for the eyes and ears,” came in second with a take of $3.6 million.

The first two episodes of The Chosen’s third season each grossed nearly $3.5 million, finishing in impressive third and fourth spots.

Episodes of the TV series, which follows the disciples of Jesus Christ, have been released in 2,009 theaters nationwide and could potentially gross $10 million in three days, according to Variety.

The Dwayne Johnson-run Black Adam, which was in second place last week, fell to fifth with just over $1.1 million in sales.

This week, The Wrap reported that on a budget of $195 million, the final box office earnings of $400 million won’t be enough for the superhero film to turn a profit.
