(Reuters) – Louis Vuitton honored Virgil Abloh with the designer’s final fashion collection catwalk in Miami on Tuesday, just days after his sudden death, leaving many fans overwhelmed spread on social networks.
The memorial event began with a hot air balloon with a red logo hovering over Marine Stadium in Miami. Chicago rapper Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi walked the runway in front of a live audience that included streetwear designer Don Crawley, known as Don C, and rapper ASAP Ferg, according to the Instagram post.
The models carry blue and pink ziplock wallets, as well as gray duffel bags for men. Some wore Vuitton shirts, while others wore black caps, scarlet jumpsuits and blue men’s suits.
When the show started, about 16,000 viewers watched on YouTube.
Abloh, the American-born son of Ghanaian immigrants and the fashion industry’s most famous black designer, died Sunday at the age of 41 after a private battle with cancer. The brand, owned by LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, decided to go ahead with a catwalk show that was done, making it a tribute to Abloh.
Since Sunday, celebrities including supermodels Bella Hadid and Naomi Campbell have posted condolences and tributes on social media. Rapper Kanye West paid tribute to his friend and colleague during his weekly Sunday Service gospel music performance.
Abloh is the creative director of West’s creative agency, Donda, and previously designed album covers for the rapper.
Kendall Reynolds, chief executive officer of Kendall Miles Designs, based in Chicago, said in a pre-show interview that Abloh inspired her to start a luxury brand with handmade products. Italian public.
