BALTIMORE (WJZ) – Chesley Patterson’s colleagues and loved ones gathered Wednesday in Little Italy to honor him with a vigil. Patterson, a manager at La Scala Ristorante Italiano, was killed early Monday morning, according to the restaurant.
Colleagues told WJZ that he shoot dead people near the intersection of East Avenue and South Broadway in Fells Point just after midnight. The shooting happened shortly after Patterson closed the store and was on his way home.

Dozens of people gathered in honor of their friend and colleague Wednesday night to talk about and shed tears for Patterson. People who know Patterson say he is like family and is loved by everyone.
The city closed part of East Avenue for a vigil, and restaurant owners invited anyone out and honored “Chesco” Patterson.

Mayor Brandon Scott spoke out today about violence in the city.
“We have a responsibility to ourselves and to the community,” Scott said. “We need people to know where their children are. If your kids come home with things that you know don’t belong to them, if you know they and their friends are engaging in things they shouldn’t, say something.
