The widow of an ex-soldier who was killed by a truck while riding her bicycle home has told of her hell on earth after the driver was released from prison.
Joe Clarke, 28, was hit by David Clarke’s truck as it veered off a side road.
The former corporal in the Royal Engineers Division died in hospital.
His wife of eight years, Cassie, said: “It took all three seconds to take his life and mine.
“I shouldn’t have become a widow at 30. We were planning a family. That day he kissed me on the forehead and I said I love him.
“He goes to work but never comes home. Living without him is like hell on earth.”
Clarke, 57, of Warrington, admitted death by dangerous driving.
He was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison, 200 hours of unpaid work and banned from the streets at Manchester magistrates court.
